The Hot Licks team was trying a lot of new things this weekend.
During the first qualifying round we ran a 5.65 which was good enough to earn us the #2 spot after the first session. However, everybody seemed to pick up the pace a bit during the second session. Liquid Quicker ran a record-breaking 4.59 (which they backed up the next day with a 4.59) and Speed Sports ran a 4.95. By the end of the day, we were left as the #4 qualifier with our improved 5.51, setting us up to race Liquid Quicker first round on race day.
On race day, we lost first round to Liquid Quicker, but then ran an exhibition pass against Spirit of Texas where winner would get bragging rights and a little extra prize money. Though our pass was not spectatcular, we took the win against Spirit of Texas, giving us some satisfaction of a short weekend.
Congradulations to Liquid Quicker crew on their win in Augusta and for setting the new National IHBA E.T. record at 4.58. They did not get the record for running 260mph and then close to 270mph because the timing lights were not working properly to record the speeds.
Hope to see everybody at the next SDBA race in Ft. Worth! |
